Off line Fly back Regulator Circuit Diagram

This Off line Fly back Regulator Circuit Diagram uses a low-cost feedback scheme in which the dc voltage developed from the primary-side control winding is sensed by the UC1842 error amplifier. Load regulation is therefore dependent on the j coupling between secondary and control windings, and on transformer leakage inductance.

For applications requiring better load regulation, a UC1901 Isolated Feedback Generator can be used to directly sense the output voltage.

Fluorescent Light Wiring Diagram Tube Light Circuit

This post "Fluorescent Light Wiring Diagram | Tube Light Circuit" is about how to wiring fluorescent light and "how a Fluorescent Tube Light works". The wiring process of fluorescent tube lamp/light with Ballast,Starter is quite easy and simple. In most cases when we buy a fluorescent light it comes in a complete set with all wire connected. If you want do it yourself (DIY), you can buy all the parts individually. And you can complete all connection of the fluorescent light/lamp with the help of this wiring circuit diagram.

Fluorescent Light Wiring Diagram

Fluorescent Light Wiring Diagram-Tube Light Circuit
Fig: Fluorescent Light Wiring Diagram

Main parts of Fluorescent Tube Light:

     1.Fluorescent Tube
     2.Ballast
     3.Starter
     4.Holder, wire etc.

How Fluorescent Lights works:

The starter is like a key of fluorescent light because it is used to light up the tube. When we connect the AC supply voltage to the circuit, then the starter act like short circuited and current flow through those filament (located at the first and second end of the tube light) and the filament generate heat and it ionized the gas (mercury vapor) in the fluorescent tube lamp. So the gas becomes electrically conductive medium. At the same time when the starter opened the circuit path of two filaments from series connected, then the ballast release its stored voltage. And it makes the fluorescent tube fully lighten. Now the starter has no job in the circuit, if you open it from the circuit the fluorescent tube light will be still lighten, until you release the main supply.

Simple 8 Amp Regulated Power supply Circuit Diagram

This Simple 8-Amp Regulated Power supply Circuit Diagram is powered by a transformer operating from 120 Vac on the primary and providing approximately 20 Vac on the primary, and providing approximately 20 Vac on the secondary. Four 10-A diodes with a 100 PIV rating are used in a full-wave bridge rectifier. A 10,000 ^F/36 Vdc capacitor completes the filtering, providing 28 Vdc.

The dc voltage is fed to the collectors of the Darling-ton connected 2N3055s. Base drive for the pass transistors is from pin 10 of the µ723 through a 200 ohm current limiting resistor, Rl. The reference terminal (pin 6) is tied directly to the non-inverting input of the error amplifier (pin 5), providing 7.15 V for comparison. The inverting input to the error amplifier (pin 4) is fed from the center arm of a 10 k ohm potentiometer connected across the output of the supply.

This control is set for the desired output voltage of 13.8 V. Compensation of the error amplifier is accomplished with a 500 pF capacitor connected from pin 13 to pin 4. If the power supply should exceed 8 A or develop a short circuit, the µ723 regulator will bias the transistors to cutoff and the output voltage will drop to near zero until the short circuit condition is corrected.

Puff to OFF LED circuit

This is a simple circuit in which the glowing LED can be switched OFF just by a puff. A condenser mic (M1) is used to sense your puff. When the push button S1 is pressed, the transistors Q2 and Q3 wired as latching pair gets activated and drives the LED to glow. The LED remains in this condition. When you puff on the condenser mic, the sound pressure is converted into a voltage signal at its output. This voltage signal will be amplified by the transistor Q1.Since the collector of the Q1 is coupled to the emitter of the latching pair, the pair will stop conducting when ever there is a signal from the condenser mic due to puffing and the LED will go OFF. The push button switch S1 has to be pressed again to switch the LED ON.Notes.

* The circuit can be powered from a 3V battery.
* The M1 can be a general purpose condenser microphone.
* The switch S1 can be push button switch.
* The circuit can be assembled on a good quality PCB or common board.
* Instead of the LED, you can also try a low power 3V bulb.

Connect this circuit to any of your home appliances (lamp, fan, radio, etc) to make the appliance turn on/off from a TV, VCD, VCR, Air Conditioner or DVD remote control. The circuit can be activated from up to 10 meters. It is very easy to build and can be assembled on a veroboard or a general-purpose PCB.

Parts:

R1 = 220K
R2 = 330R
R3 = 1K
R4 = 330R
R5 = 47R
C1 = 100uF-16V
C2 = 100nF-63V

D2 = Red LED
D3 = Green LED
Q1 = BC558
Q2 = BC548
IR = TSOP1738
IC1 = CD4017
RL1 = Relay 5V DC

The 38kHz infrared rays generated by the remote control are received by IR receiver module TSOP1738 of the circuit. Pin 1 of TSOP1738 is connected to ground, pin 2 is connected to the power supply through R5 and the output is taken from pin 3.
The output signal is amplified by Q1. The amplified signal is fed to clock pin 14 of decade counter IC CD4017 (IC1). Pin 8 of IC1 is grounded, pin 16 is connected to vcc and pin 3 is connected to D2 (Red LED), which glows to indicate that the appliance is ‘off.’ The output of IC1 is taken from its pin 2. D3 connected to pin 2 is used to indicate the ‘on’ state of the appliance. Q2 connected to pin 2 of IC1 drives relay RL1.
D1 acts as a freewheeling diode. The appliance to be controlled is connected between the pole of the relay and neutral terminal of mains. It gets connected to live terminal of AC mains via normally opened (N/O) contact when the relay energizes.
If you want to operate a DC 12 volt relay then use a regulated DC 12 volt power supply for DC 12 volt Relay and remember that the circuit voltage not be exceeded more than DC 5 volts.

Linear RF Power Meter Circuit

The National Semiconductor LMV225 is a linear RF power meter IC in an SMD package. It can be used over the frequency range of 450 MHz to 2000 MHz and requires only four external components. The input coupling capacitor isolates the DC voltage of the IC from the input signal. The 10-k? resistor enables or disables the IC according to the DC voltage present at the input pin. If it is higher than 1.8 V, the detector is enabled and draws a current of around 5–8 mA. If the voltage on pin A1 is less than 0.8 V, the IC enters the shutdown mode and draws a current of only a few microampères. The LMV225 can be switched between the active and shutdown states using a logic-level signal if the signal is connected to the signal via the 10-kR resistor.
Circuit diagram:
linear-rf-power-meter-circuit-diagram1 Linear RF Power Meter Circuit Diagram

The supply voltage, which can lie between +2.7 V und +5.5 V, is filtered by a 100nF capacitor that diverts residual RF signals to ground. Finally, there is an output capacitor that forms a low-pass filter in combination with the internal circuitry of the LMV225. If this capacitor has a value of 1 nF, the corner frequency of this low-pass filter is approximately 8 kHz. The corner frequency can be calculated using the formula fc = 1 ÷ (2 p COUT Ro) where Ro is the internal output impedance (19.8 k?). The output low-pass filter determines which AM modulation components are passed by the detector.

rf-power-meter-circuit-diagram2
The output, which has a relatively high impedance, provides an output voltage that is proportional to the signal power, with a slope of 40 mV/dB. The output is 2.0 V at 9 dBm and 0.4 V at –40 dBm. A level of 0 dBm corresponds to a power of 1 mW in 50 R. For a sinusoidal wave-form, this is equivalent to an effective voltage of 224 mV. For modulated signals, the relationship between power and voltage is generally different. The table shows several examples of power levels and voltages for sinusoidal signals. The input impedance of the LMV225 detector is around 50 R to provide a good match to the characteristic impedance commonly used in RF circuits.

The data sheet for the LMV225 shows how the 40-dB measurement range can be shifted to a higher power level using a series input resistor. The LMV225 was originally designed for use in mobile telephones, so it comes in a tiny SMD package with dimensions of only around 1 × 1 mm with four solder bumps (similar to a ball-grid array package). The connections are labelled A1, A2, B1 and B1, like the elements of a matrix. The corner next to A1 is bevelled.

Simple 7805 Voltage Regulator Circuit

A voltage regulator is used to produce a constant linear output voltage. It’s generally used with AC to DC power supply. And also it can be used as well as a DC to DC voltage converter . To regulating low voltage, most used device is one single IC. 7805, 7812, 7905 etc. 78xx series are design for positive and 79xx series are for Negative voltage regulator.

7805 is a three terminal +5v voltage regulator IC from 78XX chips family. See 7805 pinout below. LM78XX series are from National Semiconductor. They are linear positive voltage regulator IC; used to produce a fixed linear stable output voltage.  National Semiconductor has also negative voltage regulator chips family, they indicate with LM 79XX. 78xx is used more than 79xx because negative voltage has a few usability purposes as we see.
I was previously posted a 5v regulated power supply circuit using 7805 IC, that circuit and this 7805 voltage regulator circuit is almost the same.

Its output voltage is +5V DC that we need. You can supply any voltage in input; the output voltage will be always regulated +5V. But my recommendation is, don’t supply more than 18V or less than 8V in input. There used two capacitors in this voltage regulator circuit, they aren’t mandatory to use. But it will be best if you use them. They helped to produce a smooth regulated voltage at output. Use electrolyte capacitor instead of ceramic capacitor.

One limitation of 7805 I have found that is its output current 1A maximum. Otherwise it is a good voltage regulator if you are happy with 1A. But if   you need over 400mA current in output then you should use a Heat Sink with IC LM7805. Otherwise it may fall damage for overheating.Link

Octaver Fuzz Guitar Effect Circuit

This is a design for guitar effect. This circuit is used for produces fuzz sound, so it is called fuzz effect. This circuit is built by low noise dual op amp IC and transistor. This is the figure of the circuit.

The GEU is good sounding octave fuzz, with an optional mode of just fuzz. The fuzz is a fully rectified signal and is quite chewy. For some the Fuzz alone might not be loud enough, this can be fixed by raising the value of the 820 ohm resistor and lowering the 39k one. Or one could just replace both with a normal volume pot for a more standard approach. The "struzz" is the fuzz with an octave higher signal mixed in. Good for signal notes and leads.

How to make a Simple Infra Red Remote Control Circuit

Controlling household electrical gadgets or any electrical equipment remotely can be fun.  Controlling gadgets like a TV set or a DVD player through a remote may look pretty common to us and we are very used to with the experience, however for controlling many other domestic equipment like a water pump, lights etc we are compelled to walk around for implementing the switching.

The article is inspired by our usual TV remote concept and has been applied for controlling other house hold electrical appliances remotely.  The circuit facilitates and helps the user to do the operations without moving an inch from his resting place.

The whole circuit of the proposed IR remote control may be understood by studying the following points:

Referring to the figure, we see that the entire layout consists of just a couple of stages viz: the IR sensor stage and the fkip flop stage.

Thanks to the highly versatile, miniature IR sensor unit which forms the heart of the circuit and directly coverts the received IR waves from the tranamitter unit into the relevant logic pulses for feeding the fllip flop stage.

The sensor basically consists of just three leads viz: the input, the output and the biasing voltage input lead. The involvmant of only three leads makes the unit very easy to configure into a practical circuit.

The sensor is specified for operating at 5 volts regulated voltage which makes the inclusion of the 7805 IC stage important. The 5 voltage supply also becomes useful for the flip flop IC 4017 and is appropriately supplied to the relevant stage.

When a IR signal becomes incident over the sensor lens, the inbuilt feature of the unit activates, triggering a sudden drop in its output voltage.

The PNP transistor T1 responds to the negative trigger pulse from the sensor and quickly pulls the positive potential at its emitter to the collector across the resistor R2.

The potential developed across R2 provides a positive logic high to the IC 4017 input pin #14. The IC instantly flips its output and changes it’s polarity.

The transistor T2 accepts the command and switches the relay according to the relevant input provided to its base.

The relay thus switches the connected load across its contacts alternately in response to the subsequent triggers received from the IR transmitter unit.

For the sake of convenience the user may use the existing TV remote control set unit as the transmitter for operating the above explained control circuit.

The referred sensor is well compatible with all normal TV or DVD remote control handset and thus can be appropriately switched through it.

The entire circuit is powered from an ordinary transformer/bridge network and the entire circuit may be housed inside a small plastic box with the relevant wires coming out of the box for the desired connections.

Parts List

The following parts will be required for making the above explained infra red remote control circuit:

Fuzz Distortion Circuit with Wave Shaper

This is the design circuit for guitar effect circuit. This is called as fuzz distortion effect. Based on the squaring property of two back-to-back diodes connected across output and inverting input of the op-amp, IC1B forms a rather straightforward fuzz circuit. The squared output signal coming from IC1B is converted into a triangle-shaped waveform by IC1C and related components. IC1D is wired as a virtual-earth mixer, summing the linear, squared and triangle-shaped signals coming from IC1A, IC1B and IC1C respectively. This is the figure of the circuit;

IC1A is the linear input amplifier. We can vary the input sensitivity of the circuit from -10dB to +10dB in three fixed steps by means of SW1, in order to cope with almost any pick-up type and model. We can done a very accurate mixing of these three different signals by means of P1, P3 and P4. The result will be an almost endless choice of different fuzz-effects.

Reducing L200 Power Dissipation Circuit using Series Resistor

It’s good to reduce the power dissipated by the device. Using resistor connected in series to the input (the left figure) is a simple and economic method to reduce the device input-output differential voltage. This is the figure of the design circuit;

Here’s the formula for calculating R:
R= [Vi min- (Vo+Vdrop)]/Io
Vdrop = minimum differential voltage between the input and the output of the device at current Io
Vin min = minimum voltage
Vo = Output voltage
Io = output current

Resistor R can be connected between pins 1 and 2 of the IC instead of in series with the input if the load is constant (the right figure). So, part of the load current flows through the device and part through the resistor. This configuration is available when the minimum current by the load is:
Io min = Vdrop/R

Making LED Illumination Circuit for Fish Aquariums

The discussed LED light circuit with timer was requested by Mr.Nikhil for illuminating his 4 x 2 feet fish aquarium. Lets learn more about the proposed circuit idea.

The request:

"hi Swagatam.....
i wanted to make a led lighting for my 4x2ft aquarium. i need at least 400 straw-hat led circuit each of 5mm. can you please design the circuit....
Thanks"

The design:

The fish aquarium LED light with timer circuit  presented here utilizes a standard fish aquarium LED light set-up design for the required illuminations. Two sets of LED colors are used, blue and white, which illuminate in tandem at an interval of 12 hours each. The switching is controlled through a simple IC 4060 timer circuit.

The white LEDs light up at 9 am and switch OFF at 9 pm, switching ON the blue LEDs. The blue LEDs remain illuminated from 9pm until 9am, when its again replaced by the white LEDs....the cycle goes on as long as power remains available to the circuit. A standard ratio of 1:6 is used for the LEDs, i.e. around 348 white LEDs and about 51 blue LEDs.

Circuit Description:

The diagram shows a simple circuit based upon the universal timer IC 4060 for implementing the sequencing operations of the involved LEDs.

The product of R2 and C1 determines the timing frequency, which must be set roughly for generating 12 hour intervals. C1 may be taken as 0.68uF, while R2 may be appropriately selected for generating the above time frequency through some trial and error.
A small value resistor say a 1K may be selected for R2 to check what time interval it generates, once we get this, the value for 12 hour may be easily calculated through cross multiplication..

If after a few days the time intervals seem to be drifting away from the set start/finish hours, the switch SW1 may be pressed for resetting the sequence. If required this can be done every morning at 9am for implementing accurate switching of the LEDs, and for maintaining a natural feel inside the aquarium habitat.

Lets assume the circuit is switched ON at 9 in the morning. The output pin#3 of the IC initiates with a logic low and the timer starts counting.

The low at pin#3 keeps T1 switched OFF, this creates a high potential at the collector of T1 which instantly triggers T3/T2 illuminating the white LEDs.

The white LEDs remains illuminated for so long the timer counts, and the moment the set time lapses, the output of the IC goes high (after 12 hours), this instantly switches ON T1 and the associated blue LEDs and switches OFF T2/T3 and the white LEDs.

The cycle repeats as long as the circuit remains powered.

C2 and C3 helps to illuminate the respective LED banks gently, in a cool fading manner.

Parts List

R1 = 2M2
R2/C1 = see text
R3 = 470 Ohms
R4 = 10K
